Community Connections Outreach

Community Connections is Scottsdale Center for Spiritual Living's out-reach volunteer group that provides our members a variety of opportunities to contribute to our mission of a world that works for all. It's an opportunity to share not only our time, talent and treasures, but also our Science of Mind principles in action with the greater community of Scottsdale.

Scottsdale Center for Spiritual Living has aligned with Vista Del Camino. It provides a variety of services to Scottsdale residents to prevent homelessness, meet the basic needs of individuals and families in crisis, relieve economic and emotional stress and assist individuals to maintain self-sufficiency.

We selected this facility because their vision aligns with ours in self responsibility, kindness, compassion and service.

Scottsdale Center for Spiritual Living Community Outreach participates in Vista del Camino's Back to School Event. The program provides backpacks, school supplies, clothing and shoes to up to 1,000 low-income Scottsdale school children so that they can start the school year equipped to succeed!

Family Promise-Greater Phoenix Hot Dogs & Hygiene Kits 1st Annual

Our Community Connections small group ministry is sponsoring an outreach project in partnership with the local Family Promise organization.  You are invited to bring toothpaste, tooth brushes and/or socks to be included in the blue hygiene kits to support families in need. Quantities of 10 appreciated!

SCSL congregants are invited to lend a hand to assemble more than 2,000 hygiene kits for the homeless. Hot dogs and other refreshments will be served during the event taking place at the Paiute Neighborhood Center, 6535 E. Osborn Road in Scottsdale. Contact Community Connections Leader Susan Dell for more information on both events and remember to wear your SCSL T-shirt!

Thank You to Family Promise for providing these bags for us!

Help The Homeless Blessing Bags

When you see someone on the curb with a sign asking for help, be prepared with an SCSL Blessing Bag. They provide a hand up with a variety of items for personal care as well as a contact list for local assistance. Get the details at the SCSL Guest Services Table on Sunday. Click here for recommended contents for your Blessing Bags. Don’t forget to pick up and include some orange Community Resource Cards, also available at the Guest Services table.

Note: The City of Scottsdale now requires all volunteers to fill out a Volunteer Application so they can understand the volunteer efforts in all areas of the city. Details here.
